Family Birthday Traditions: From Bluey-Themed Fun to Magical Disneyland Adventures

Celebrating Family Birthdays: How We Make Every Year Special

Birthdays are a big deal in our family, and we love to make each one special in its own unique way. Over the years, our celebrations have evolved, but one thing that’s stayed constant is our dedication to making each birthday a true celebration of love, joy, and family.

A Year of Celebrations

In our family, the birthday festivities start early in the year with mine in January, and they carry through the year to the fall with Emberly’s birthday in October. Here’s how our family celebrations are spaced out:

  • January: My birthday kicks off the year.
  • February: My brother takes the spotlight next.
  • March: Spring brings the celebration of my mom’s birthday.
  • April: My other brother’s turn rolls around.
  • May: My brother Paul’s birthday is just before summer.
  • June: We wrap up the first half of the year with my dad’s summer birthday.
  • October: Finally, we celebrate Emberly Jade’s birthday in the fall.

Each year, we like to switch things up to keep every birthday feeling fresh and personalized. In 2023, we chose to have intimate family dinners at Maggiano’s for each celebration. It was cozy, relaxed, and filled with good food and even better conversations.

Emberly’s First Birthday: Bluey-Themed Fun

For Emberly’s first birthday in October 2024, we wanted something playful and memorable, so we went with a Bluey theme—perfect for our little one. While Emberly didn’t request Bluey herself (since she’s only one!), we knew it would be a fun and colorful theme everyone would enjoy.

We created custom goodie tote bags for the party, filled with Bluey-themed treats. The bags featured little touches like the sticky gecko, granny glasses, and Rita’s beans (jellybeans)—all little nods to some of our favorite Bluey moments. It was a simple but thoughtful way to make the day feel even more special for our guests.

Disneyland Birthday Celebrations

This year, for 2024, we decided to do something even more adventurous for all our birthdays—we went to Disneyland for each one! From the rides to churros, it was magical for the whole family. Even Emberly got into the fun with bright colors and character interactions, while the rest of us soaked up the nostalgia and family time.

Why Our Birthday Traditions Matter

At the end of the day, whether we’re sharing a meal at Maggiano’s or running around Disneyland with mouse ears on, our birthday traditions are about bonding as a family. These celebrations give us a chance to pause, come together, and make memories that last long after the cake is gone.

As the years go by, I’m excited to see how our birthday traditions will continue to evolve, but no matter what, I know we’ll always keep the focus on celebrating life, love, and family.
